Oil and lemon marinated cabbage with roasted hazelnuts
Lembit Lounge Cuisine
Oil and lemon marinated cabbage with butter roasted hazelnuts. Healthy warm side dish to combine with your meal to make it a LCHF-look-alike, or, just by it self.
1tbspCurry powderOptional, I'm using Madras hot curry powder
Instructions
Prepare the ingredients. Set your oven to 225 °C / 430°F. Put baking paper on a oven plate. Start with splitting the cabbage into smaller pieces, and then squeeze the juice from a lemon. Mix together with the olive oil.
Now, brown the cabbage around in butter in a hot pan until it gets a beautiful color, about 4-5 minutes per side
Place the cabbage with the cut surface on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the cabbage all over with the lemon/oil, add a generously amount of salt, pepper and curry powderBake in the lower/middle part of the oven until the cabbage is soft, 20-30 minutes. The last minutes crisp them up
And while the cabbage is in oven, roughly chop the nuts. Melt the butter in a frying pan. Add the nuts and fry until the butter is browned and the nuts are golden brown. Put aside until the cabbage is ready and then spread the buttered nuts over the cabbage.
Serve the cabbage together, as a warm salad, to your main dish, as in this example spicy smoked kabanos sausage with tzatziki sauce, but will fit perfectly with other meat dishes as well. Top the plate with avocado and tomato
